40145 has now entered the HNRC workshops at Barrow Hill.
This is in preparation of the locomotive being lifted from its bogies and the wheelsets then removed and despatched to The South Devon Railway for removal of the old tyres and the fitting of the new ones.
It goes without saying that the whole job is going to be costly (likely to be in the region of some £40,000 ) given that there are also transport costs for getting the wheelsets from Barrow Hill to Devon and return.
The CFPS begging bowl is therefore back “in traffic” in the hope that everyone will support our worthy appeal for funds to enable 40145 to be back out working on the mainline as quickly as possible.
Thank you in anticipation of your support.
