After several discussions with, and a lot of help from our good friend Shaun Wright (owner of ANDANIA) we have devised a plan to send 40145 to Barrow Hill.
Once 40145 arrives at Barrow Hill, HNRC staff with Shaun Wright overseeing the work, will undertake wheelset replacements on number 3 and 4 wheelsets on the loco.
40145 will likely move to Barrow Hill towards the end of June and it is envisaged that all the work that is required will take about a month.
Should all go to plan, 40145 will then be fit for main line Charter work again and with this mind I have organised 2 x ONE WAY Charters.
The Charters are in conjunction with The ELR running a Flying Scotsman Charter on Saturday 15/09 off The ELR.
ON FRIDAY 14/09
The coaching stock for the ELR Charter will start from Carnforth (leaving about 12.30) with also a pick up at PRESTON.
The plan is for 40145 to haul the coaching stock from Carnforth to Bury via a wiggly waggly route with a WCRC Class 37 in T & T formation.
Warrington Arpley to Ditton and Edge Hill Class 37 hauled, is part of the REQUESTED route.
ON SUNDAY 16/09
The coaching stock will leave The ELR (about 07.45) and head back to Carnforth with 40145 and a Class 37 operating in T + T formation and will again go via a wiggly waggly route.
ROCHDALE has been requested as an alternative PICK UP point and PRESTON as an alternative SET DOWN point.
A quick visit to ILKLEY has been REQUESTED.
No fares are sorted as yet and consequently no booking form yet produced.
One further point of interest.
The ELR are now considering having a Class 40 operating the Diesel Diagram on Saturday 15/09 and have kindly agreed to offer a SPECIAL FARE on the Saturday to those of you who travel on the one way Charters.
This is so that you have some entertainment on the Saturday between the 2 trips…. Unless of course you wish to book for the Flying Scotsman Charter, which as yet is also not advertised.
Hope the above is considered good news and that everyone will support the plan
