Railtour testimonials.

A few comments from passengers from the East Lancs Champion railtour

  • Thank you for a very enjoyable weekend touring my local branch lines.   When you next plan a tour in the South West please let me know.

    Best Regards

  • Just a quick message to say many thanks for the hard work over the weekend. A great trip, all seemed to go off without a hitch so hopefully will add a few ££££ to the coffers!

    Cheers

    Steve M. Holmes Chapel.

  • On behalf of the good lady wife and myself, I just wanted to pass on my thanks for the excellent tour this weekend.  Really enjoyable from start to finish.  We had to miss out on the Falmouth branch in order to go to dinner with a friend of my wife’s who just happens to live in Penzance and who she had not seen in 25 years but both the St Ives and Newquay sections were ‘required’ and really interesting.

I know you and others put a lot of hard work and effort into the trip and that – from listening to what you were telling Martin and Harry - that you were juggling with unexpected obstacles all the way through.  Hopefully though, a reasonable profit was made – I hear you did well with on the day bookings – and good relations with the DTG were formed in case we want to try something similar in the future.

Thanks again - and here’s to the BLS and Edinburgh trips.

    Paul R, Stockport

  • I hope you all got back ok. Just a quick thanks for all your efforts in putting together a stunning weekend. I had a great time and had forgotten how good those Cornish brances are.

    Back down to earth now!

    Cheers

  • I would just like to say thanks you for such a smashing weekend.   We had a lovely time ,also a thank you for the gesture to my parents for their missing Bag I know it wasn't the fault of the CFPS and I have never been on a rail tour before where anything has disappeared overnight whilst the stock was parked up.

The wife and I were discussing it last night, He was obviously a desperately needy man as he only took food and not beer, so the food went to a good home.

Also thanks for hiring the loco out over Easter to Pathfinder for the Scotland trip. It made the weekend extra special having the loco on the front rather than a class 67.

Look forward to traveling with you again.

    Best Regards

    Tim P, Wilts

  • You should feel so very proud of what you have achieved in the running of the East Lancs Champion for the CFPS.

An extremely well planned and executed tour  mate!!

I think everybody on the tour had a great time and everything went to plan-WELL DONE!

I hope you get many similar responses from those on board.

    Cheers,

    Wobble.

Thanks for the brilliant railtour this weekend, we all enjoyed it immensely.

Please don't let the overnight thefts sour what was a really successful
    weekend.

Please pass our thanks on to all involved in the tour but especially to
yourself for all your hard work.

Now get some well deserved rest!

    Cheers,

    Rob

Just wanted to drop you a line to say what a fantastic weekend was had by one and all in my party, there was more than one felt like a kid in a sweet shop. People these days are always quick to criticize and slow to praise. The highlight must have been the trip up the Newquay branch on wet rails the noise in the 3rd coach was amazing.

Thanks again to you and your whole team for organizing such an excellent tour it must have been a lot of hard work, looking forward to the next one I’ll keep my eyes open.

Off to bed now to catch up on sleep.

    Regards Mark

Congratulations to you and all of you who made this trip possible ,the organisation was fantastic and apart from running out tea bags it was brilliant!
That was a good bottle of wine that brought this idea out! I enjoyed every minute of the weekend.
I was born in Hayle 1948 then moved to Carbis Bay in 1953 and witnessed all of the westerns etc brand new , I moved up to Manchester in late 69 and fellin love with the forties! so to get both locos on one tour and on my "home " branch lines was fantastic. I have put an article in this weeks edition of the St.Ives Times and Echo with a picture and a contact No, for your dvd of the tour, this should get you a few sales, perhaps if you contact the WLA that will create some interest?

I would just like to say on behalf of myself and 3 friends a massive thanks for the weekend we have just enjoyed. What you have achieved is nothing short of a miracle and accept all the thanks you receive because you deserve it. Attached is a photo of the 4 of us at Plymouth enjoying 40145 and from left to right you have the following CFPS members ... Paul Gleave, Gary Whitley, Ian Moore & John Ellams.

    Once again thanks

    Hello John,

Hope you have recovered or begin to recover from the weekend just gone!
I just want to say how much of a fantastic weekend I had - absolutetly brilliant, enjoyed the thrash from the 'Western'+'Whistler' tandam legs, throughily enjoyed the thrash up to Newquay (although 40145 nearly slipping to a stand was a tad worrying!), plus there was several of my friends on board (in the CFPS and DTG) so had a good laugh with them.  I enjoyed the last leg yesterday too, sat up the front in the half-empty DTG coach with 40145 at the helm, I just sat back, relaxed and enjoyed the thrash with a beer in my hand!  Bliss!

The only 'dampener' for me was overnighting at Crewe station Friday night/Saturday morning and Monday morning
Anyway, that doesn't bother me one bit - I enjoyed myself and that's all that counts.

    All the best John,

    Rob Bray
