The Class 40 Preservation Society has no shareholder scheme for the locomotives. We are not a supporting group for locomotives owned by anyone else - the locos are jointly owned by the entire Membership. By joining the Class 40 Preservation Society, you will receive our quarterly magazine THE WHISTLER and regular newsletters by post and email, keeping you up to date on restoration progress, details of operating dates and fund-raising, and also articles and stories of interest. Please note: the membership subscription fee is set only to cover the basic admin. costs of running the Society, producing THE WHISTLER and newsletters. Locomotive restoration, preservation and operation can be very expensive. We encourage all our Members to take part in operating and fund-raising activities - we rely on donations large and small from our Members, either to general funds or to particular appeal funds from time to time. Every little helps. We also encourage Members to take an active part in the running of the Society by helping our volunteer team with locomotive restoration and maintenance, or at sales events. No particular experience is necessary, although you do need to be fairly fit and have no fear of getting dirty! Important
